The home and gardens of Claude Monet are in Giverny, a little town about 20 minutes from where we were staying at. The house and gardens have both been restored to look they way they did when Monet and his family lived here. After we toured the gardens it was time for lunch at the Hotel Baudy. This is where all the impressionist artists hung out when they came to visit Monet in the late 1800s. When we finished lunch we walked down to the village church to see Monet's grave.

There are over 10,000 perennial plants in
the gardens. They are planted in "color clumps", which is how Monet had
them planted to explore different color combinations. Since it is the end
of summer, there were lots of sunflowers, dahlias, and asters blooming.
