Saturday, April 1--We went to Idar-Oberstein today. This town is famous for it's mines and gem-stone cutting, so of course Grandpa was really interested in everything. We visited the Kelsenkirche, the Museum Idar-Oberstein, and the Gem Mine.
Ready for my adventure!
The Felsenkirche was built in the 1400s in
the side of the cliff overlooking Oberstein. We had to walk up 230 steps
to visit the inside.
The Idar-Oberstein Museum has rocks and
minerals from all over the world.
This is where we ate lunch at
Grandpa and Dad went into the Mine to see
how the stones were mined in the 1800s. I took a nap in the car with
Grandma and Mom instead of going in.
