It started to rain in the afternoon, so we jumped in the car and headed for the Lake District of Austria.  This area is one alpine lake after another, and even in the rain it was really pretty.

The main reason for this trip was to visit the cemetery in Hallstatt.  This little town is surrounded by the Hallstattrsee (lake) and the mountains.  Because of the limited space, bones are only allowed to be buried for 12 years in the cemetery.  After 12 years, the skulls and leg bones are moved into the Charnel House where they are named, dated, and decorated.  It's kind of weird, kind of neat, and something that you can only see in Europe!!!

The "Wedding Church" from Sound of Music in Mondsee.  This is where they filmed the wedding scenes for the movie.  The inside is being restored and was covered with plastic sheeting, but the front alter was really pretty
