We headed across the French border today to two towns, Betschdorf and Soufflenheim.  I think Mom had a little scheme planned because both towns were filled with pottery stores.  They make blue/grey salt-glazed pottery in Betschdorf and traditional painted pottery in Soufflenheim.  No wonder Mom was at the ATM so long before we left.

With all this pottery sitting in the middle of the road-unguarded-I'm surprised Mom didn't end up in jail for stealing!!

This area has gone back and forth between France and Germany for hundreds of years.  When we were driving we saw lots of WWII monuments dealing with the Maginot Line and the battles that took place in the area.
