Our first adventure was up the Rhine River to Remagen to visit the Remagen Bridge Peace Museum.  The Remagen Bridge was built during World War I and was the last bridge left standing over the Rhine River in World War II.  The bridge was captured by US Army troops on March 7, 1945 which allowed the Army to continue to push the German forces further back into Germany.  Ten days after the bridge was captured, it collapsed killing 30 American soldiers.  Inside the remaining bridge towers is now a World War II museum.
