The Berchtesgaden Salt Mine has been in operation since 1517, and still produces a lot of the table salt purchased in Germany.  Part of the mine is open for tours-you get to see salt formations and old mining tools, ride on an mine train, and ride a boat across a huge underground lake.  But the best part is that you get to wear miner's overalls for the tour and go down mine shafts on huge slides!!!!
